Meeting Summary June 3

The second GuilfordPACT meeting was held Tuesday night at the community center.

There were ~40 people in attendance.

Jim Wall presented the treasurers summary.
There are now 108 members and we have received over $1600 in contributions.

We spent some time discussing approaches to the first phase of this process (phase prior to BOE decision on solution, tentatively scheduled for Sept 10). There are differences of opinion on optimal solutions and different levels of understanding about the process and proposed solutions, although certainly much support for long term solutions. The timeline for BOE discussions was presented and PACT members signed up to attend and report on BOE meetings throughout the summer. It is noted that there are some individuals pushing more aggressively for a specific solution and the hope is that people interested in being involved in this initiative will also be involved with GuilfordPACT to educate citizens about the issues and push through the solution once it is decided upon.

At this point GuilfordPACT remains an inclusive group of citizens concerned with discussing and educating citizens about the need for facility improvements, working with the board to acheive the strongest feasible solution, and getting out the vote to make this a reality. We discussed the need for strategies to get out the vote.

The second portion of the meeting was devoted to committee meetings, primarily marketing, fundraising, and database/email. These committees should be sending separate updates. There is still a need for involvement in various committees and positions in the group.
We intend to have a publication distributed at the Little Folks Fair this Saturday designed to increase understanding and involvement in the process and membership in GuilfordPACT.

A third meeting was tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 24th, at 7:30pm. If this is a problematic date, either individually or because of some community event, please let me know.

Comments and discussion regarding the meeting are welcomed, either via email to the group or individually or on the blog/forum.
