PACT Update June 9

PACT members,

We would like to update everyone on a few things we are working on. If you have ideas or would like to work on specific things please let us know and we will put you in touch with others who may be interested!

  • We are forming a steering committee to help guide PACT.
  • We have placed a page on the website for letters from PACT members
to the newspapers and/or town boards so that others can see what
people are expressing and how. We encourage everyone to write the
town leadership (BOE,BOF,BOS) both about the need to pursue a
comprehensive solution and if you have specific thoughts and
priorities about accomplishing this. Please send these letters to
the newspaper/board as well as to us and we will post (we will try
to do some basic fact checking, but letters will be the
    responsibilities of individuals).

  • We are working on electronic petition(s) to express opinions to
the Boards about specific solutions that would also allow us to
keep track of who is committing to this, so that we can work on
getting them out to vote. We would also like to work on/modify
existing paper versions of this that allows an opinion to be
expressed while also gathering information that can be followed up on.
  • We are working on childcare for the next meeting, which is at
7:00pm on June 24th in the Community Center.
  • We are working on a communication policy that will try to minimize
group communication that could be perceived as negative.
Specifically we have eliminated the option that replying replies
to all members, and as of now the group is moderated. We welcome
    suggestions on how to moderate.
  • We are working on an agenda for the meeting on June 24th. Please
let us know if there are things you feel need to be covered.
  • We are forming a subcommittee of members who feel two new schools
is the optimal solution we should be working with the Boards to adopt.
  • We are forming an architectural/building subcommittee made up of
professionals to provide input to the group and the Boards about
short and long term technical issues.
  • We are looking at forming a subcommittee of medical and health
professionals to clarify and provide input on health issues at Adams.
  • Other committees now include marketing/education, membership and
    communication(need members!),liason committee(need members!),
database, and fundraising. If you want to be in touch with people
on committees or have something you think doesn't fit let us know.
  • We are continuing to work on educational materials for the
community. We have a one page flier, have nearly completed a
tri-fold brochure, and are working on both print and video media
that effectively express the problems with the schools.
  • We are working on fundraising and membership ideas.
  • We are building a database of likely "yes" voters that we need to
    get out.

GuilfordPACT is and intends to remain an inclusive group of all
citizens who want to see the schools fixed comprehensively and are
willing to work towards this both short long term. If you have an idea
you'd like to contribute prior to the meeting please let us know.

Hope to see you at the meeting on the June 24th, 7:00pm!
